Use one board before, during and after the session
The Whiteboard stays inside the lesson and presentation flow. Prepare the group task before class, let students build the shared picture live, then return to the finished board when the session is over.
During the activity, follow mode gives you a clear way to move between independent exploration and whole-class attention without opening another tool.
1 Prepare the group task
Set up the shared starting point before students join
Add a Whiteboard to the lesson and prepare the prompt, diagram or response areas in advance. Students begin with the structure they need instead of facing an empty canvas.
For example, place one question in the centre and give groups separate areas for evidence, explanations and connections.
- Use an Infinite canvas for an open workspace or Slide for a fixed frame.
- Keep the prepared board with the lesson for the next presentation.
2 Guide the live activity
Let groups work, then bring everyone back together
Open the board for shared drawing while groups add ideas to the same canvas. When it is time to explain a connection or compare answers, turn on Force follow to bring student views to the part you are presenting.
Turn follow mode off again when students should navigate and contribute independently. Force follow pauses student drawing while it is on.
- Collaborative opens the board for shared work.
- Force follow regroups the class around the presenter view.
3 Return after the session
Keep the shared board available with the presentation
The live board does not disappear when the presentation ends. Students can return to the presentation and revisit the group’s diagrams, notes and connections in view-only form.
That makes the board useful as a record of the discussion, a reference for the next task or a starting point when the class continues later.
- The presentation keeps its own completed board scene.
- Save as image when you also need a separate copy.
