Create graphs and graph questions on one coordinate grid

Plot a coordinate figure inside your material, or use the same graphing model to collect a structured student response.

What this lets you do

Build the graph once. Decide whether students view it or answer it.

Graph is a read-only figure for explaining or presenting. Graph task adds a question prompt, fixed givens and one or more requirements that collect a plotted or typed response.

Both use the same coordinate range, axis markings and supported graph elements, so you can make the visual and answerable versions structurally consistent.

1 Choose the graph type

Use Graph for a figure or Graph task for an answer

Choose Graph when the coordinate grid should illustrate your material. It stays read-only for the viewer while keeping its points, lines, paths and supported functions editable for the author.

Choose Graph task when students should submit work on the grid. It adds a question prompt, fixed givens and one or more requirements for the response.

2 Build the grid

Set the axes, then add the elements you need

Set the X and Y range and choose whether to show the grid, ticks and number labels. A read-only Graph can also allow viewers to pan.

Click the grid to add and move points. Use the Elements controls for a line, segment, ray, path or a supported function of x, then keep each element labelled where the diagram needs it.

3 Set the requirements

Separate the fixed givens from what students must add

Place shared context in Givens, then add ordered Graded requirements. Each requirement can ask for Points, a Line, Segment, Ray, Function f(x) or Sketch.

Draw the expected geometry or set the supported exact values, then adjust the tolerance fields that belong to that requirement type. For supported geometric requirements, you can also choose whether students may enter exact values.

4 Answer and review

Collect the plotted response and inspect it as a graph

Students move between the requirements and plot or drag the requested geometry. A Function f(x) response is typed, while a Sketch connects points in the order they are placed.

Supported requirement types are evaluated against the expected geometry and tolerances you configured. Teacher results render the submitted plot, and Show correct can add the expected-answer overlay when you are ready to compare them.
